Women Fund Tanzania - “Empowering Local Women Heroes” (WFT) is an upcoming women’s rights fund in Tanzania. As a Grant Maker, WFT provides a funding mechanism which aims at enhancing the voice and visibility of women’s rights organizations through grant making and capacity strengthening with the aim of facilitating women’s rights actors at different levels in the country to realize their full potential for empowerment, access to rights and women’s movement building in the country.
WFT, which was registered as Non-profit making organization in the country in year 2008, intends to employ a competent and qualified person as a Grant Program Officer in line with WFT growth prospects.

Job Title: Grant Program Officer Organization Women Fund Tanzania (WFT) Location: Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Reporting Head of Program
Principal Accountabilities:
Grants Evaluation Under the guidance of the Head of Program evaluate the risk, need for and benefits of funding applications, taking into account funding criteria for a range of different grant programmes.

Specific Accountabilities:
Working in a Team perform the following tasks:


Engage and facilitate processes relating to Grant Management cycle, manage grants awarded and ensure that projects and expenditure are compliant agreed milestones throughout the duration of the grant.
Handles the day-to-day grant making processes and provide technical support in the planning and coordination of grant making activities including timely disbursement of funds
To participate in conducting due diligence and site visits for current and prospective grantees organizations for monitoring and evaluation purposes while developing, implementing compliance systems, and monitoring procedures to ensure proper stewardship of funds on pre-awards, award, post-awards, and close-out to attain value for Money.
Reporting Collect and record data and information using the tools provided (e.g. the grants database), and prepare reports, ensuring that information is well presented, accurate, and meets the needs of WFT, Donors, partners and the grant recipient
Prepare narrative reports and communicate with Finance Department in order to align both reports for Quality assurance and ensure is reviewed by ED and submit to donor timely.
To provide support in coordinating convenings, engage and network with like minded NGO’s working in relevant fields and attend relevant forums, meetings and conferences.
To assist in preparing monthly and Quarterly review meeting (finance and Program departments) to reflect budget against annual work plan to ensure implementation is done timely and reported accordingly
To assist in preparing WFT contracts, partnership agreements, consultancy and ensure formal template is used and is sequentially numbered
To execute any other task as required by the Head of the Department in relation to grant making activities and selective

Strong analytical and managements skills
Ability to manage complex problems proactively/effectively
Ability to design and write a variety of reports, articles and other information products
Personal initiative and ability to work under pressure
Knowledge of current development theory, policies and practice
Ability to express oneself clearly and effectively both orally and in writing

Qualifications and experience


At least be in possession of a Bachelors Degree in political science, gender studies, sociology, humanities or any related field;
A minimum of 3 years professional experience working in the field of CSO/women’s rights or relevant professional experience in social justice or human rights broadly.
Grant making management track record and experience is an added advantage
Candidates must demonstrate a proven commitment to women’s rights activism and will be expected to demonstrate the highest levels of integrity and model the rights based and social justice values espoused by WFT.
